Moscow court rejects Meta’s complaint about 2 bln rbl fine
MOSCOW, Feb 15 (PRIME) -- Moscow’s Tagansky District Court has found legal a 2 billion ruble turnover-based fine for non-deletion of banned information for Meta Platforms, which owns Facebook and Instagram, the court’s press secretary Zulfiya Gurinchuk told PRIME on Tuesday.
“The court has thrown out the complaint of the company’s representative and left the fine in force,” Gurinchuk said.
The country imposed its first turnover-based fines on Meta and Google in December 2021 for repeated non-deletion of banned information – the court claimed 1.99 billion rubles from Meta and 7.2 billion rubles from Google.
The court will hear Google’s complaint on February 28.
